Invoicing Apps for Shopify in Portugal: 2026 Comparison
InvoiceXpress, Xpressifi, Moloni, Vendus, weoshopi and Rioko side by side: price, documents, credit notes, and which shop each one suits.
Selling on Shopify from Portugal requires something Shopify does not do: issuing the invoice in software certified by the Portuguese tax authority (AT). The fix is always the same piece, a link between the shop and an invoicing program, and there are half a dozen ways to get it.
This comparison uses only what each vendor publishes: its Shopify App Store listing or its integrations page. Prices were checked on 6 October 2026.
Disclosure: this article is published by the Rioko team, and Rioko is one of the options compared. That is why every row of the table comes from a public source you can check.
The comparison in one table
| Option | Invoicing software | Price of the link | Credit notes | Other sources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| InvoiceXpress (official app) | InvoiceXpress | Free (you pay InvoiceXpress) | Not mentioned | No |
| Xpressifi (Think Orange) | InvoiceXpress | €0.14 per document | Not mentioned | No |
| Moloni Portugal (Webinfor) | Moloni | Free (you pay Moloni) | Yes | No |
| Moloni ON (Webinfor) | Moloni ON | Free (you pay Moloni ON) | Yes | No |
| Vendus (native integration) | Vendus | Included in the Flex and Pro plans | Not mentioned | No |
| weoshopi (WEO Group) | Its own system | €0.10 per invoice | Not mentioned | No |
| Rioko | InvoiceXpress, Moloni or Vendus | €7.50 + VAT per month, per integration | Automatic in InvoiceXpress | Stripe and Lodgify |
"Other sources" means invoicing, with the same tool, sales that do not go through Shopify: Stripe payments (subscriptions, payment links) or Lodgify bookings.
Start from the invoicing software you already have
"Which app is best" is nearly always answered by another question: which invoicing program holds your series and your accounting? Switching programs for the sake of the shop rarely pays off.
- You use Moloni: the Moloni Portugal app by Webinfor has been on the Shopify App Store since 2022, is rated 4.5 stars from 26 reviews, and issues invoices, receipts and credit notes. It installs at no cost; you pay for Moloni.
- You use Vendus: the Shopify integration is Vendus's own, but only on the Flex and Pro plans. Lower plans have no integrations.
- You use InvoiceXpress: there are two apps. The official one, by InvoiceXpress, is free and only in Portuguese. Xpressifi, by Think Orange, charges €0.14 per document and shows the customer's VAT number on documents.
- You have no invoicing software yet: weoshopi issues invoices in its own system at €0.10 per invoice. Fewest moving parts, at the cost of your invoicing being tied to the app.
When a Shopify app stops being enough
Shopify App Store apps handle the simple case well: a Portuguese shop, customers in Portugal, 23% VAT. Problems appear when the business grows sideways:
- You sell to other EU countries past the €10,000 threshold: each sale must carry the customer country's rate (OSS).
- You sell to EU businesses: reverse charge, with the VAT number validated in VIES and the right exemption code.
- You also take payments through Stripe (subscriptions, payment links) or Lodgify (bookings): a Shopify app cannot see those sales, and you end up with two or three ways of invoicing.
- You need to know nothing was left uninvoiced: without a daily check, the forgotten order surfaces at the end of the quarter, through your accountant.
Where Rioko fits
Rioko is not a Shopify App Store app: it is a bridge that connects to the shop by webhook, with no checkout extensions, and issues in the invoicing software you already use (InvoiceXpress, Moloni or Vendus).
- Flat price: €7.50 + VAT per month, or €75 + VAT per year, per integration. No per-document fee: above roughly 55 documents a month it costs less than €0.14 per document.
- VAT decided per sale: Portuguese rate, OSS for the EU, or reverse charge with VIES, from the buyer's country and status.
- Shopify, Stripe and Lodgify in one dashboard, each with its own destination.
- Daily reconciliation: the period's sales are compared with the documents issued, and an uninvoiced sale shows up in the dashboard.
- Refunds: in InvoiceXpress the credit note is issued automatically. In Moloni and Vendus, a refund raises an alert and the credit note is issued by hand.
Rioko is built by Kapta, the Portuguese company that developed the official InvoiceXpress app for Stripe.
How to choose, in three questions
- Do you already have invoicing software? If so, start with that program's app. If not, pick the program first: we compared InvoiceXpress, Moloni and Vendus.
- Do you only sell on Shopify, only in Portugal? A Shopify App Store app is enough.
- Do you sell to the EU, to businesses, or also through Stripe or Lodgify? Then a bridge saves you maintaining several links and fixing invoices by hand. See how Rioko works with Shopify.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best invoicing app for Shopify in Portugal?
It depends on the invoicing software you already use. With Moloni, the Moloni Portugal app is the natural choice; with Vendus, its native integration on the Flex or Pro plans; with InvoiceXpress, the free official app or Xpressifi. If you also sell through Stripe or Lodgify, to the EU under OSS, or to businesses under reverse charge, a bridge like Rioko covers those cases in one place.
Is there a free app to invoice Shopify orders in Portugal?
The official InvoiceXpress and Moloni apps install at no cost but require a subscription to that invoicing software. No option is free end to end: software certified by the Portuguese tax authority is always paid.
Do I need an app if Shopify already sends an order confirmation?
Yes. Shopify's confirmation is not a tax document: it has no ATCUD, does not belong to a series registered with the tax authority, and is not in the SAF-T file. Only certified software issues valid invoices in Portugal.
How much does invoicing Shopify orders cost per document and per month?
As of 6 October 2026: Xpressifi charges €0.14 per document, weoshopi €0.10 per invoice, and Rioko €7.50 + VAT per month per integration, with no per-document fee. Above roughly 55 documents a month, a flat price is cheaper than €0.14 per document.
Do these apps issue credit notes for refunds?
The Moloni apps list credit notes among supported documents. The Xpressifi, official InvoiceXpress and weoshopi listings do not mention them. In Rioko, a refund creates the credit note automatically in InvoiceXpress; in Moloni and Vendus it raises an alert and the credit note is issued by hand.
