Xpressifi vs Rioko: Invoicing Shopify Orders in InvoiceXpress
Xpressifi or Rioko for invoicing Shopify in InvoiceXpress: price per document or a flat price, what each covers, and at how many orders each pays off.

If you sell on Shopify in Portugal and invoice in InvoiceXpress, there are two common ways to connect the two without writing code: Xpressifi, a Shopify App Store app made by Think Orange, and Rioko, which is us.
This article compares them using what each one publishes about itself. Xpressifi's details come from its Shopify App Store page, checked on 2 October 2026. If you are reading this long after that date, confirm the prices there.
The difference in two lines
- Xpressifi: an app installed in Shopify, for InvoiceXpress only, €0.14 per document.
- Rioko: a webhook and API connection, for InvoiceXpress, Moloni or Vendus, €7.50 + VAT a month per integration, with unlimited documents.
Side by side
| Xpressifi | Rioko | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free to install, €0.14 per document (billed in USD) | €7.50 + VAT/month or €75 + VAT/year, per integration |
| Invoicing software | InvoiceXpress | InvoiceXpress, Moloni, Vendus |
| Sales sources | Shopify, including orders from marketplaces and external sites | Shopify, Stripe, Lodgify |
| How it is installed | Shopify App Store app | Webhook and API, set up in the Rioko dashboard |
| Invoice when the order is paid | Yes | Yes |
| Issue by hand, order by order | Yes | Invoices every paid order on its own |
| Customer VAT number on the document | Yes | Yes, looked up in checkout fields, order notes and the billing address, and validated |
| Refunds | The app page does not mention credit notes | Automatic credit note, partial refunds included |
| VAT outside Portugal | The app page does not mention OSS or reverse charge | OSS, reverse charge with VIES, and exemption codes M01–M99 |
| App Store rating | 3.9 out of 5, from 6 reviews (launched 28/08/2023) | Not on the App Store |
"The app page does not mention" means exactly that: it is not in the public description. If it is decisive for you, ask Think Orange before concluding it does not exist.
What each costs, by volume
Xpressifi charges per document; Rioko charges a flat fee. With one invoice per order, the break-even sits at 54 orders a month:
| Documents a month | Xpressifi (€0.14/doc.) | Rioko (monthly) |
|---|---|---|
| 20 | €2.80 | €7.50 + VAT |
| 54 | €7.56 | €7.50 + VAT |
| 100 | €14.00 | €7.50 + VAT |
| 300 | €42.00 | €7.50 + VAT |
| 1,000 | €140.00 | €7.50 + VAT |
Two notes to keep the sum fair. Credit notes are documents too, so a shop with returns issues more documents than orders. And Xpressifi's page does not say whether the €0.14 includes VAT, while Rioko's price is always shown before VAT.
When to choose each
Xpressifi makes sense if you issue a few dozen invoices a month, sell only in Portugal, invoice only in InvoiceXpress and want an app you install in two clicks from Shopify itself. For that case it is the cheaper option, and being able to issue a specific order by hand is useful.
Rioko makes sense if:
- you are past fifty-odd orders a month, or want a cost that does not grow with sales;
- you sell to other EU countries and need OSS or reverse charge with VIES;
- you have returns and want every refund to become a credit note without anyone stepping in;
- you use Moloni or Vendus, or also take payments through Stripe or Lodgify and want it all in one place.
Either way, the invoice is issued by InvoiceXpress: it is the certified software, and it is what puts the ATCUD and QR Code on the document. Neither Xpressifi nor Rioko replaces the series filed with the tax authority, which you need in place before the first sale: the guide is How to create an invoice series in InvoiceXpress.
How to try Rioko
Rioko does not ask for a card to start. You connect the Shopify store and the InvoiceXpress account in the dashboard, and paid orders are invoiced on their own from then on. The full walkthrough, including where to collect the VAT number at checkout, is in Invoicing Shopify orders in Portugal.
